In The Beginning…

Club Information:
Our club is named the Mazatzal (Yavapai for Land of the Deer) Mountain Muzzleloaders. The club was organized in 1985 and became an NMLRA chartered club in 1987. Anyone interested in Traditional Black Powder shooting is welcomed to attend any club event.
Monthly club shoots are held on the second Saturday weekend of each month. December through April club shoots are held just north of Sunflower, Arizona. May through September the club shoots are held just north of Mormon Lake, Arizona. October club shoot and November Rendezvous are held near Rye, Arizona. Maps and directions are provided on our “Contact” page. Monthly shoots are casual and camping is optional.
To compete at a monthly club shoot all participants need to provide a $10.00 minimum “Blanket” prize. Each shooter will be awarded a prize. After the shoot there is a potluck lunch followed by a club meeting. Visitors are welcomed to attend the shoot, potluck and/or meeting.
Our yearly Rendezvous is held Thursday through Sunday, the second Saturday weekend in November. Rendezvous setup begins the Wednesday prior to the Rendezvous. Prizes are awarded Sunday morning. Located just south of Rye, Arizona. All campers are welcome – primitive or modern, lodges, tents and RVs – there’s plenty of room for everyone. Primitive dress is encouraged but not required. Traders are welcomed, no “rummage sale” items please. Bring the entire family! Pets are welcome but must be leashed.
We have club dues:
Family rates are $50.00/year or $5.00/month.
Single rates are $35.00/year or $3.00/month.
Yearly membership also includes entry to our Annual Rendezvous.
Dues provide for Event insurance.
